Onslaught launched an army of Sentinels on New York City, blocking off all entrances and exits to the city. The Fantastic Four, Avengers and X-Men remain as the world’s only hope to thwart Onslaught’s plans. The heroes spread out through the city to take out the Sentinels. Meanwhile Onslaught sent his alter ego "Chuck" (an astral projection of Charles Xavier as a young boy) to get close to Franklin Richards. Chuck tried to persuade Franklin to merge with Onslaught. Meanwhile a team of X-Men (consisting of Cyclops, Phoenix, Cannonball, Angel and Psylocke) flew to Muir Island at the insistance of Moira McTaggert. While en route, Cyclops told the others that Xavier knew all their strengths & weaknesses, as well as how to neetralize every member of the X-Men. Phoenix tried to reassure him that Xavier was still inside Onslaught, and that they would be able to reach him. However, Cyclops was more concerned that Onslaught would defeat them first. Back at the Four Freedoms Plaza, Reed Richards and Tony Stark were trying to build a special armor that would be resistant to Franklin’s power to manipulate reality. Meanwhile all across the city the other members of the Avenengers, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men fought the Sentinels. Even with their combined efforts, they were heavily outnumbered, 50:1. While the heroes seem to be gaining the upper hand over the Sentinels, there was a distant flash of light. Onslaught had finally gained access to Franklin Richards’ power, and used it to construct a citidel in Central Park, towering above all of New York’s tallest skyscrapers. Standing upon it he announced that mutants will no longer be oppressed. Onslaught made his "Opening Move" releasing an electromagnetic pulse so powerful that it shut down all sources of power in the city, destroyed circuitry, and immobalized armor. The EMP was further augmented by a deadly explosion of Telekinetic force. It knocking down most of Earth’s heroes in the first wave. Meanwhile in North Africa, Ozymandias worked intently on a carving. Upon finishing he was shocked at what he saw; Onslaught as he will soon be, standing atop the ashes of what was once Earth
